Hugo Donkin is a producer and EP with a knack for threading comedy, animation, and mixed media into stories that linger on your brain.
For over 18 years, he’s moved fluidly between docs, animation, puppetry, and classic human live action… always with a tactile, handmade sensibility at the core.
His work spans ads for Trolli worms, music videos for Gorillaz, Idris Elba ft. Little Simz, Q-Tip, and Mastodon; offbeat comedies like Jarressey (starring BAFTA-winner Jamie Demetriou); and acclaimed series including The Amazing World of Gumball and the cult hit Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared.
The latter began as a surreal YouTube experiment that amassed over a quarter-billion combined views before being reimagined as the BAFTA-winning Channel 4 series, cementing its status as a modern cult classic enjoyed by teens and adults worldwide.
His current workload at Blink Industries, involves producing the 2D series Alley Cats, created by Ricky Gervais (Netflix), while EP’ing shorts (Channel 4 / Adult Swim) alongside developing irreverent, genre-bending adult animation.
His work lives where humour tilts into the uncanny - driven by ambition, craft, and a streak of the surreal.
